How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Registered Children’s Home Manager

    An excellent opportunity for an experienced or aspiring children’s residential care leader to manage a children’s home and help deliver safe, high-quality, child-centred care and support.

    SALARY: £44,433 to £47,925 per annum, plus average on-call payments of approximately £6,000 per year + Benefits

    LOCATION: Lea, Derbyshire, East Midlands

    This is a rewarding opportunity to join the organisation as a Registered Children’s Home Manager, leading a dedicated residential childcare team and supporting positive outcomes for children and young people.

    As the Registered Children’s Home Manager, you will manage the day-to-day operation of the home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, staff leadership, regulatory compliance, budget control and effective partnership working.

    The Registered Children’s Home Manager will also help embed a therapeutic ethos across the home, promoting reflective practice, emotional support, safe boundaries and care planning that supports each child’s physical, emotional and social development.

    DUTIES

    Your duties as the Registered Children’s Home Manager include:

    * Home Management: Manage the operational activities of a children’s residential home, including staffing, budgets, buildings, equipment and resources

    * Regulatory Compliance: Fulfil Registered Manager responsibilities and maintain standards in line with relevant legislation, Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements

    * Staff Leadership: Lead, motivate and support employees within the home, including recruitment, induction, training, supervision, development and performance planning

    * Care Planning: Ensure children and young people receive care, emotional support and appropriate boundaries that respond to their individual needs

    * Therapeutic Practice: Embed a therapeutic ethos across the home, supporting reflective practice and informed decision-making

    * Quality Assurance: Monitor, review and evaluate the running of the home using key indicators including education, health, progress and reduced criminalisation

    * Partnership Working: Work collaboratively with parents, carers, education, health services, police, CAMHS, local communities and other agencies

    * Service Development: Contribute to service planning, inspections, training strategies and continuous improvement across residential services

    * Risk and Safeguarding: Manage risk in relation to service delivery and promote safe, anti-oppressive and inclusive practice

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

    ESSENTIAL

    * Previous experience in children’s residential care, including supervising and managing staff in a care setting

    * Experience managing budgets, resources and service delivery within a regulated care environment

    * Strong safeguarding knowledge, with experience working with partner agencies to support positive outcomes for children and young people

    * Good understanding of the Children Act, Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, Ofsted requirements and the wider legal and policy context of residential childcare

    * Strong leadership, communication, organisation, planning, motivation and team development skills

    * Ability to assess needs, plan care, manage risk and support children and young people with complex needs

    * Flexible approach, with the ability to work in a challenging environment and travel between service locations as required

    * Ability to speak fluent English to communicate fully with clients and the public

    * Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or equivalent

    * Ability to meet safer recruitment requirements and the fit person requirement of a Registered Manager with Ofsted approval

    * If holding a Social Work degree or equivalent, registration with Social Work England within the required timescale

    DESIRABLE

    * Health and safety experience, including risk assessments

    * Knowledge of residential care procedures
