How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Buyer

    Warrington | Civils & Groundworks Sector
    Salary: Region of £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)

    Our client is a well-established Civils & Groundworks contractor delivering projects across the North West. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Buyer to join their team in Warrington.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction buyer or procurement professional looking to develop their career within a fast-paced and growing business. Experience purchasing construction materials is essential, while training can be provided on aggregate and plant procurement.

    The Role

    As Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting operational teams by sourcing and procuring materials, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring projects are supplied efficiently and cost-effectively.

    Responsibilities

    Procuring construction materials for ongoing projects
    Obtaining quotations and negotiating best value with suppliers
    Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
    Managing purchase orders and delivery schedules
    Monitoring material costs and market trends
    Supporting site teams with procurement requirements
    Assisting with aggregate and plant hire procurement (full training available)
    Maintaining accurate procurement records and reporting

    Requirements

    Previous buying or procurement experience within construction
    Strong knowledge of construction materials
    Excellent negotiation and communication skills
    IT proficient with strong Microsoft Office skills
    Comfortable working with procurement software and digital systems
    Positive attitude towards technology and AI-assisted processes
    Willingness to learn new systems and ways of working
    Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
