How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Laboratory Technician

    Lambourn Woodlands

    Full Time – Permanent

    Monday – Friday – Days

    Salary: Dependent on experience

    We are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician to join our client based in Lambourn Woodlands.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a laboratory, science or quality control background who enjoys practical work and wants to develop their experience within a busy manufacturing environment.

    Our client is a well-established, independent contract chemical manufacturer and toll blender. Established in 1970, the company has built a strong reputation for quality and reliability. As the business continues to grow, they are looking for a reliable, organised and detail-focused Laboratory Technician to support the day-to-day activities of the laboratory and production operation.

    The Role

    Working as part of the laboratory team, you will carry out routine quality control and in-process testing, maintain accurate laboratory and production records, and ensure products meet the required specifications.

    You will work closely with Production, Quality and customers, making this a varied, hands-on role where accuracy, organisation and communication are equally important. You will need to be comfortable managing competing priorities and working to production deadlines without compromising quality or safety.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out routine in-process quality control testing in accordance with approved test methods and procedures.

    * Accurately record and report test results and complete batch documentation within required timescales.

    * Prepare, review and issue Certificates of Analysis (CoAs), including responding to routine customer enquiries regarding product documentation.

    * Prepare, label and replenish laboratory reagents and solutions and maintain laboratory glassware and equipment.

    * Monitor laboratory consumables, PPE and other essential supplies and ensure stock levels are maintained.

    * Manage retained and expired samples and ensure laboratory waste is segregated and disposed of correctly.

    * Maintain high standards of laboratory housekeeping, cleanliness and organisation.

    * Report equipment faults, stock shortages and safety concerns promptly.

    * Follow all laboratory, health & safety and environmental procedures, including the correct use of PPE.

    * Prioritise and manage multiple tasks to meet production and customer deadlines.

    * Work closely with Production and Quality teams to support the smooth running of the manufacturing operation.

    What We're Looking For

    We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable, highly accurate and keen to develop their laboratory and quality control experience.

    You may already have experience as a Laboratory Technician, QC Technician, Quality Control Analyst, Laboratory Assistant or similar, ideally within a manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, food, environmental or other process-based environment. However, relevant laboratory experience is desirable rather than essential, and the right attitude, attention to detail and willingness to learn are equally important.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    * GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Mathematics and Science.

    * Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written test methods, procedures and work instructions accurately.

    * Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.

    * Good written and verbal communication skills, together with a professional and customer-focused approach.

    * Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

    * Ability to work efficiently to deadlines while maintaining quality standards.

    * Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.

    * Willingness to learn new laboratory techniques, analytical methods and company procedures.

    Desirable Experience

    * Previous experience within a laboratory, quality control, manufacturing or production environment.

    * Experience carrying out in-process quality control testing, completing batch documentation and preparing or issuing Certificates of Analysis.

    * Experience preparing laboratory reagents and solutions and maintaining laboratory equipment and accurate records.

    * Familiarity with analytical instrumentation such as Gas Chromatography (GC), Particle Size Analysis (PSA) or Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).

    * Basic understanding of laboratory health & safety procedures.

    The Person

    The successful candidate will be accurate, organised, reliable and proactive, with a practical approach to their work. You will be comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities can change, take responsibility for your workload and be confident raising issues when they arise.

    You should be a strong team player with a genuine interest in developing your technical knowledge and laboratory skills, while maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.

    What You'll Get

    * Full-time, permanent position

    * Monday to Friday, day shift

    * Competitive salary, dependent on experience

    * Free on-site parking

    * 20 days' holiday + Bank Holidays

    * Pension scheme

    Whether you're an experienced Laboratory Technician or someone with relevant scientific experience looking to develop your career, this could be an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience across laboratory testing, quality control and chemical manufacturing.
