Salary: £45,000 - £55,000, potentially up to £60,000 DOE
Senior Structural Engineer required to join an established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy within their growing Bristol office.
The successful Senior Structural Engineer will join an experienced Structural Engineering team delivering projects across a wide variety of sectors including healthcare, education, residential, high-rise, industrial, commercial, sustainability, retail, heritage and marine.
This is a client-facing role offering responsibility for the delivery of structural engineering projects from concept through to completion. The successful candidate will work closely with the Associate Structural Engineer, taking ownership of projects, coordinating engineers and technicians and helping to maintain high technical and commercial standards across the team.
The role would suit a technically strong Structural Engineer who is comfortable running projects independently and who wants greater responsibility for project delivery, client liaison, resource management and mentoring.

Senior Structural Engineer Job Overview
Lead and deliver structural engineering projects across a varied portfolio of building sectors
Develop innovative, sustainable, efficient, safe and practical structural engineering solutions
Manage projects from initial concept through detailed design and delivery
Assist with the day-to-day management of engineers and technicians
Coordinate the production of calculations, drawings, specifications and other technical information
Ensure project information is delivered accurately, on time and within budget
Undertake structural design and analysis across a range of construction materials
Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities with architects and other members of the design team
Review structural designs and technical information prior to issue
Ensure appropriate independent design checking is completed
Liaise directly with architects, clients, contractors and other consultants
Attend design team, client and site meetings
Maintain proactive communication with project stakeholders
Ensure structural solutions are coordinated with the architectural intent of each project
Consider Health & Safety throughout the design process and minimise construction risk
Identify and clearly communicate residual design risks
Assist with resource allocation and project programming
Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians
Maintain high standards of technical documentation and presentation
Prepare bids and fee proposals for new projects
Support the commercial performance of projects and ensure profitable delivery
Senior Structural Engineer Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline
Strong UK Structural Engineering consultancy experience
Proven experience delivering building structures projects
Ability to develop structural schemes from initial architectural briefs
Strong structural analysis and design capability
Experience running projects and coordinating project teams
Good understanding of structural calculations, drawings and specifications
Experience working with a range of structural materials, ideally including:
Reinforced concrete
Structural steel
Masonry
Timber
Proficient with AutoCAD
Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design coordination
Experience attending client, design team and site meetings
Good commercial awareness
Strong client-facing and communication skills
Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers advantageous
Chartered Engineer status advantageous but not essential
Candidates working towards professional qualification will also be considered
Decisive with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
