How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Witness Care Officer to work within the Devon & Cornwall Police Force based at the Exeter Magistrates' Court.

    Are you passionate about supporting victims and witnesses in the criminal justice system? Our client is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Witness Care Officer to join their team in Exeter. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact within the community while working in a dynamic environment.

    What Our Client Offers:

    Temporary contract until September 2027.Competitive hourly rate of £14.10 per hour.
    A full-time work pattern, providing a stable and engaging work environment. Monday to Friday 37 hours per week

    Role Overview:

    As a Witness Care Officer, you will serve as the vital link for victims and witnesses involved in prosecution cases, ensuring their attendance in both Magistrates and Crown Courts. Your role will be pivotal in delivering exceptional service that meets individual needs, aligned with the No Witness No Justice requirement and the Victim's Code of Practise.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Act as a single point of contact for victims and witnesses, providing tailored support and guidance.
    Conduct and continually assess needs and risk evaluations to ensure effective assistance.
    Manage a varied and complex caseload, applying the rights outlined in the Victims Code of Practise.
    Maintain accurate records and updates in compliance with legislation and good practise.
    Build and sustain relationships with external partners including Victim Partner Agencies, HMCTS, and CPS.
    Engage with the public through various communication methods, addressing emotional distress with empathy and professionalism.
    Provide specialist advice and training inputs to colleagues, enhancing team knowledge.
    Manage logistics for evidence presentation, including worldwide video links and special measures.
    Potentially provide evidence in court.Essential Criteria:

    The ideal candidate will possess:

    Experience working with a diverse range of individuals in various circumstances.
    Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with vulnerable or distressed individuals.
    Collaborative experience with agencies such as CPS, HMCTS, and the Probation Service.
    Proven planning and prioritisation abilities in managing a challenging workload.
    A solid understanding of the Criminal Justice System and relevant processes.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and adaptability to new systems.Competencies:
