How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Would you like to work in a role where your support can directly influence a child's confidence, progress and experience of school? A specialist setting in Swindon, Wiltshire is looking for a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join its team and provide personalised support to children with a range of additional needs.

This SEN Teaching Assistant position is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with children and wants to understand how different learning needs can affect communication, behaviour, independence and classroom engagement. You will help children overcome individual barriers while encouraging them to participate, develop new skills and become increasingly confident in their abilities.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work alongside teachers and specialist colleagues, helping to deliver support that is tailored around individual children's needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Children may have Autism, learning difficulties, communication needs, social and emotional needs or other SEND requirements.

    Your Responsibilities

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be involved in the day-to-day support and development of children within the school.

    Your duties may include:

Working directly with children on a 1:1 or small-group basis.
Helping children understand and complete classroom activities.
Adapting tasks and instructions so children can access learning more effectively.
Using visual resources, practical activities and other appropriate learning approaches.
Encouraging children to communicate their needs, ideas and feelings.
Supporting children with transitions between lessons and activities.
Reinforcing classroom expectations and encouraging positive behaviour.
Helping children develop their social interaction and communication skills.
Promoting independence rather than creating unnecessary reliance on adult support.
Providing encouragement when children become frustrated or find an activity difficult.
Supporting children to remain engaged and motivated throughout the school day.
Working collaboratively with teaching and SEN staff to provide consistent support.
Recording and communicating relevant observations about children's progress. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will need to be adaptable and responsive. Some children may require structured guidance, while others may benefit from encouragement to attempt tasks independently.

    What You Can Expect

This SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity offers:

£85-£110 per day, depending on experience.
    PAYE weekly pay.
    Full-time and part-time positions.
    September 2026 start.
A specialist education setting in Swindon, Wiltshire.
Practical experience supporting children with a variety of additional needs.
The opportunity to learn from experienced teachers and SEN professionals.
A strong starting point for future careers within education, psychology, therapy and children's services.Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Assistant, Support Worker, Childcare Worker or Youth Worker would be useful, although relevant experience is not essential.

The role requires patience and consistency, but it also provides the opportunity to see the direct impact of your support.

If you are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant position where you can gain genuine specialist experience while contributing to children's education, confidence and development, this opportunity in Swindon could be an excellent next step.
