How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: Sudbury
    Type: 4-Bed Residential Children’s Home
    Shifts: Long Day Shifts

Are you an experienced and passionate care professional looking for your next opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people?

Our warm, family-style 4-bed residential children’s home is rated Good by Ofsted and provides a safe, nurturing environment for young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

As Deputy Manager, you’ll play a key role within the leadership team, working closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the home runs smoothly and, most importantly, that every young person receives the high-quality, personalised care and support they deserve.

You’ll lead by example, support and mentor a dedicated team, and help create a positive culture where staff feel valued and young people are encouraged to grow, develop and thrive.

    What We Offer

    * Competitive salary with the Real Living Wage as our minimum benchmark.

    * Enhanced pay scales based on qualifications and experience.

    * Clear career progression, including opportunities to progress to Registered Manager.

    * Fully funded qualifications and QCF pathways.

    * Paid training and a comprehensive induction programme.

    * Regular supervision, appraisals and team meetings.

    * Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.

    * Staff referral bonus and life assurance.

    * 28 days’ annual leave, including Bank Holidays.

    * Free meals while on shift and a free Enhanced DBS check.

    * Employee Assistance Programme and wellbeing support.

    * Access to discount schemes covering high-street retailers, days out, holidays and more.

    Your Role

Working alongside the Manager, you will help oversee the day-to-day operation of the home and ensure young people receive outstanding care and support.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Supporting the Manager with the overall management and development of the home.

    * Leading, supporting and mentoring the care team to maintain a positive and high-performing environment.

    * Working collaboratively with families, schools, professionals and external agencies.

    * Supporting personalised care plans and ensuring interventions achieve positive outcomes.

    * Promoting safeguarding, regulatory compliance and high standards of care.

    * Contributing to staff development, training, supervision and performance management.

    * Supporting resource planning, budgets and the effective running of the home.

    * Keeping up to date with legislation, research and best practice within children's residential care.

    About You

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about improving outcomes for young people and has the experience and leadership skills to support a successful residential home.

    You will ideally have:

    * A Level 3 qualification in Children & Young People’s Workforce or Health & Social Care.

    * Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour, EBD or SEMH needs.

    * A good understanding of safeguarding, legislation, policies and procedures relevant to children’s residential care.

    * Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

    * The ability to motivate, lead and support a team.

    * A flexible, positive approach and the confidence to work in a fast-paced environment.

    Make a Difference

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a supportive team and play a genuine part in helping young people develop their confidence, independence and future potential.

If you’re ready to take the next step in your career and make a lasting difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Please submit your CV and we’ll be in touch as soon as possible
