Employee volunteering schemeKey responsibilities will be to:
Provide fire safety leadership, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation while developing and embedding a robust Fire Safety Management System.
Act as the SME for fire safety matters, driving compliance, governance and continual improvement.
Be responsible for developing and implementing the Fire Safety Strategy.
Oversee fire risk assessment programmes and provide technical assurance across buildings, operational areas and capital projects.
Lead the Fire Safety Management System and governance framework.
Develop fire safety policies, standards and procedures.
Manage and assure statutory Fire Risk Assessments across the estate.
Undertake and validate complex and higher-risk Fire Risk Assessments.
Provide technical advice on active and passive fire protection measures.
Review designs, refurbishments and construction projects to ensure fire safety compliance.
Lead fire safety audits, inspections and compliance reporting.
Develop and test emergency plans, evacuation strategies and fire drills.
Manage contractor fire safety arrangements and hot work controls.
Liaise with Kent Fire & Rescue Service, insurers and regulators.
Produce executive-level reports, KPIs and improvement plans.
Conduct fire safety training needs analysis and support stakeholder engagement activities.Experience and skills required:
Degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety, Building Surveying/Control, Engineering or a related discipline
Advanced competence in fire safety (EQF Level 5 / RQF Level 4 or above)
ABBE & IFTC Level 4 Fire Risk Assessment qualification
Knowledge of the Building Safety Act and related fire safety legislation
Competence in Higher-Risk Buildings
Membership of GIFireE/MIFireE or actively working towards
Flexibility to participate in an on-call rota
The ability to access heights and vessels within a harbour environment
Full UK Driving LicenceDesirable Qualifications & Experience
NEBOSH Fire Certificate
NEBOSH Diploma
ISO 45001 Lead Auditor qualification
Passive Fire Protection and Fire Door Inspection qualifications
Experience gained within ports, airports, rail, defence, logistics or other critical infrastructure environmentsNext steps:
