How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Wolviston Management Services are recruiting on behalf of Tioxide Materials Ltd for an experienced Workshop Mechanical & Electrical Supervisor to join the Site Engineering team at their manufacturing facility in Greatham, Hartlepool.
    This is a hands-on supervisory role with responsibility for the safe and effective day-to-day management of mechanical repair, overhaul, refurbishment and workshop assembly activities.
      
    The successful candidate will supervise workshop personnel and contractors while coordinating the repair and refurbishment of equipment including pumps, gearboxes, valves, agitators, heat exchangers, rotating equipment and associated mechanical components. The role will also coordinate workshop-based electrical and instrumentation support where required.
      
    Key Responsibilities

    Supervise workshop personnel and contractors, allocating resources and monitoring work progress.
    Ensure all workshop activities are completed safely and in accordance with site procedures, permits, engineering standards and statutory requirements.
    Coordinate mechanical maintenance, overhaul, repair, refurbishment and assembly activities.
    Ensure repairs meet engineering specifications, OEM requirements and Tioxide site standards.
    Coordinate workshop-based electrical and instrumentation inspection, testing, repair and refurbishment activities.
    Maintain strong QA/QC standards covering inspections, repair records, testing, tolerances and engineering documentation.
    Support plant reliability improvement through failure investigation, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
    Work closely with planners, engineers, stores and contractors to ensure labour, materials, tools, spares and specialist services are available.
    Manage external refurbishment providers and contractors.
    Maintain workshop equipment, lifting equipment, tooling and test equipment in a safe and effective condition.
    Support shutdowns, maintenance programmes, reliability initiatives and capital projects.   
    About You
    You should have completed an Engineering Apprenticeship and/or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, together with at least five years' experience in mechanical maintenance, equipment refurbishment or engineering workshop activities within an industrial environment.
      
    Previous supervisory experience within a maintenance, repair or engineering workshop is essential.
      
    You will need strong practical knowledge of rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes, valves and mechanical systems, along with experience of equipment overhaul and refurbishment, engineering drawings, specifications, maintenance standards, inspection and testing requirements.
      
    Experience within a chemical, process, heavy manufacturing or Upper Tier COMAH environment would be particularly advantageous.
      
    An HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, SAP Plant Maintenance experience, shutdown experience, E&I maintenance knowledge and knowledge of condition monitoring or reliability improvement techniques would also be beneficial
