How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The Business Development Manager will take commercial ownership of the territory, developing established key accounts while identifying and converting new business opportunities. Working consultatively with Design Engineers, R&D teams, Buyers and Procurement professionals, the successful candidate will manage technical component sales projects from initial specification and design-in through to production and ongoing supply.

Success will be driven by profitable territory growth, new customer acquisition, account development and the conversion of long-term technical project pipelines.

    Key Responsibilities

Grow regional sales and profitability through new business, key account development and electronic component design-in opportunities.
Identify and target OEMs, manufacturers and engineering businesses across Essex and East Anglia.
Build strong commercial relationships with Design Engineers, R&D teams, Buyers, Procurement professionals and technical decision-makers.
Understand customers’ applications, product-development plans and future component requirements.
Recommend technically relevant component solutions aligned with customer specifications and commercial objectives.
Manage technical sales projects from concept and specification through to design-in, production and delivery.
Develop existing key accounts through new applications, projects and cross-selling opportunities.
Reactivate dormant accounts and convert high-potential prospects into long-term customers.
Maintain accurate sales pipelines, forecasts, activity reports and regional market intelligence.
Work closely with internal product, technical and customer-service teams to provide effective customer support.
    Person Specification

At least three years’ experience in technical sales, engineering sales, component sales, OEM sales or a related B2B technical environment.
Proven success in developing new business and growing existing key accounts within a defined sales territory.
Comfortable delivering consultative, specification-led sales presentations to OEMs, manufacturers and product-development teams.
Experience working with Design Engineers, R&D, Procurement, Buyers and other technical stakeholders.
An understanding of component specification, design-in sales or long-term product-development cycles would be advantageous.
Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship-management skills.
Proactive, commercially focused and able to manage a regional territory with a high degree of autonomy.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout Essex and East Anglia.
    Benefits

Up to £50,000 basic salary, dependent on experience.
Realistic Year 1 OTE of £65,000+, with increasing earning potential as the territory develops.
Guaranteed commission for the first six months.
Monthly commission scheme with accelerated earnings for overperformance.
    Additional year-end bonus.
    Company car.
25 days’ annual leave, increasing by one day per year up to 30 days.
Pension with company-matched contributions up to 10%.
    Healthcare cash plan
    Death-in-service cover
24/7 GP service, travel insurance and Employee Assistance Programme.
Field/home-based working with autonomy to manage the regional territory.
