How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mental Health Assistant

    Location: Newbury

    Start Date: ASAP

    Pay Scale: £90.00 - £105.00 per day

    Are you a compassionate, patient, and empathetic Mental Health Assistant looking for a rewarding new opportunity? Do you have experience supporting children or young people with mental health, emotional, or additional needs?

    A welcoming and inclusive Specialist School in Newbury is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Assistant to join their supportive team as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mental Health Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils experiencing a range of emotional, social, and mental health needs, including anxiety, low mood, SEMH, emotional regulation difficulties, and challenging behaviour.

    This Mental Health Assistant role will involve:

    Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with mental health and emotional needs
    Helping pupils to develop emotional regulation and positive coping strategies
    Supporting pupils experiencing anxiety, low mood, and social or emotional difficulties
    Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
    Encouraging pupils to engage positively with learning and school life
    Helping to create a calm, safe, and nurturing learning environment
    Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and other professionals
    Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience, independence, and social skills
    ASAP start
    Well-connected Newbury location with good public transport linksIf you have previous experience working with children or young people, particularly within mental health, education, youth work, care, or a similar setting, we would love to hear from you. Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or emotional needs is desirable, but a caring personality, resilience, and willingness to learn are equally important for this Mental Health Assistant position.
