How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    HGV Driver (Class 1)

    Location: Muir of Ord, Highland

    Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

    Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend working as required

    Travel Requirements: Regular travel throughout the Highlands & Islands, including working away from home when required

    About the Role

    We are seeking an experienced and reliable HGV Class 1 Driver to join our operations team based in Muir of Ord. The successful candidate will support the delivery of a long-term contract operating throughout the Highlands and Islands, transporting plant, equipment and materials to various project locations.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and is willing to travel and work away from home when project requirements dictate.

    Key Responsibilities
    Safely transport plant, equipment and materials to and from operational sites across the Highlands and Islands.
    Load, secure and unload plant and machinery in accordance with company procedures and industry best practice.
    Operate HIAB-equipped vehicles where required.
    Complete daily vehicle checks and ensure vehicles are maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition.
    Ensure compliance with all road transport legislation, Driver Hours Regulations and company policies.
    Complete all delivery, transport and vehicle documentation accurately and promptly.
    Assist operational teams with site logistics and equipment movements.
    Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance at all times.
    Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, suppliers and members of the public.Essential Requirements
    Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) Licence.
    Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
    Previous experience loading, securing and transporting plant and machinery.
    Proven experience operating a HIAB crane.
    Strong understanding of health and safety requirements within transport and site environments.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
    Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional weekend work.
    Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required.Desirable Requirements

    The following would be highly advantageous:
    Previous experience within the Utilities Industry.
    Valid 360 Excavator Operator Ticket and practical operating experience.
    Experience transporting utility or civil engineering plant and equipment.
    Knowledge of working within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure environments.
    Relevant plant or lifting operation certifications.Personal Attributes

    Dependable, punctual and self-motivated.
    Ability to adapt to changing operational requirements.
