How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    GBR Recruitment Ltd are working exclusively in partnership with a leading specialist Material Handling machinery design, manufacturing & installation business, recruiting for an experienced SolidWorks Applications Engineer to design & bring to life large scale manufacturing plant layouts & machinery engineering solutions (design & build solutions) supporting the sales department using 3D software (SolidWorks) as well as 2D software.

    This is a key role delivering both design & technical support to the sales, marketing, engineering, plus R&D divisions of the business.

    You will help to create a library of 3D models for sales, promoting all the companies portfolio of machinery build types, all with accurate sizing & flows.

    You will also create accurate low-res shells of the engineering modules making up the companies standard product offerings, to be used in general arrangement drawings.

    Another key task will be to animate machinery designs to show materials flowing over the system, access areas & associated maintenance tasks for the operators, including flybys & 360 degree views, all in minimised file sizes.

    Duties:

    * The creation of accurate 3D layouts of large scale machinery

    * Ensuring sales designs & machinery layouts are visually appealing

    * Taking a sales enquiry & devising what is needed in the 3D layout design

    * Create a portfolio of 3D sales models for all machinery types

    * Involved in the creation of accurate low-res shells of all engineering modules that make up the standard machinery products. These shells will be used in general arrangement drawings.

    * Animating designs to show materials flowing over the system, access areas & maintenance tasks for operators inc. flybys & 360 degree views, all in minimised file sizes

    * Produce attractive eye catching flow diagrams in order to show simple form what the 3D design is doing with the materials it is processing (in MS Visio or similar)

    * Automated BOM creation from SolidWorks

    * Assist with tender bids

    * Create monthly statistical reports

    Attributes:

    * Strong in using SolidWorks for 3D applications creation

    * 2D software experience

    * Applications Engineering experience

    * Material handling machinery experience or other large scale complex machinery (high capital machinery)

    This role could also suit someone working as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Product Design Engineer, CAD Technician / CAD Specialist, or SolidWorks Draughtsman / Drafter Design Draughtsperson
