The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Air Freight Operator to join a well-established and growing freight forwarding business in Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a privately owned logistics provider with a strong reputation for customer service, operational quality and developing its people. Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their Manchester operation with an experienced air freight professional who can confidently manage shipments from start to finish.
You will take ownership of a varied portfolio of air import, export and cross-trade shipments, working closely with customers, airlines, overseas agents and internal teams to ensure freight moves efficiently and compliantly.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
Managing air import, export and cross-trade shipments from start to finish
Booking freight with airlines and overseas partners
Completing customs clearances and preparing shipping documentation
Liaising with customers, carriers, handling agents and overseas offices
Providing quotations and following up on commercial opportunities
Tracking shipments and providing proactive customer updates
Completing costing, invoicing and maintaining accurate shipment records
Building strong customer relationships and identifying opportunities for account growth
Resolving operational issues and ensuring a consistently high level of service
Requirements
We are looking for someone with:
Previous end-to-end Air Freight forwarding experience
Good knowledge of both air import and export operations
Customs clearance experience, with CDS knowledge advantageous
Strong customer service and communication skills
Excellent organisation and attention to detail
The ability to manage multiple shipments within a fast-paced environment
Experience using CargoWise would be beneficial
