How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About Missing People

    Somebody goes missing in the UK every 90 seconds. Missing People exists to ease the heartache experienced by those missing someone, and to help people who are away from home find their way back to safety. Our vision is for every missing child, adult and family left behind to find help, hope and a safe way to reconnect. We are a non-judgemental, highly skilled team of staff and volunteers working for everyone who needs us.  We provide free, confidential support, help and advice by phone, email, text and live chat.

    About the Content Coordinator

    The Content Coordinator will play a key role in developing engaging, audience-led content across Missing People’s owned communications channels. Working as part of our award-winning Marketing and Communications Team, you will help bring our services, stories and campaigns to life across our website, social media, email marketing and other digital platforms. You will work with colleagues, volunteers, content creators and people with lived experience of missing to create accessible, impactful content that grows awareness, supports engagement and helps more people find the information and support they need.

    The impact you will have

    Your work will help missing children, adults and families affected by disappearance to access trusted information, support and services when they need them most. By creating compelling website, social media, video and e-newsletter content, you will increase understanding of the issue of missing, strengthen Missing People’s profile and help grow the communities of supporters who make our work possible. You will also help ensure our online spaces are managed safely, our communications are coordinated and consistent, and our content reflects the voices and needs of those we support.

    About you

    You will be highly organised, enjoy working with systems and data, and take pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work. You will find full details of what we are looking for in the attached job description, and key requirements are:

    Experience:

    Significant experience of planning and creating innovative and inspiring content that shares and amplifies the voices and experiences of service users or customers – from briefing, insight and planning to creation and delivery.
    Experience of writing SEO, AIO GEO and AEO and user experienced informed website content.
    Experience of developing and managing content plans.
    Experience in planning and creating engaging social media content shaped by insight (video for social, images, blog posts, storytelling, live video), following brand style and tone of voice;
    Experience of creating and editing short-form video content for social media platforms.
    Experience of confidently and collaboratively managing a range of stakeholders including internal colleagues and external contacts.

    Skills and Knowledge:

    A solid understanding of the social media landscape, emerging channels and trends.
    Exceptional ability to create and tailor content to different audiences and platforms, including a variety of mediums such as written, visual and video;
    Strong copywriting and editing skills
    Ability to take complex information and turn it into accessible communications for the wider public;
    Creative ability for storytelling through words, images and design.
    A good understanding of managing online communities safely.

    Right to work in the UK.

    What you will get in return
