How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Hays Education are working in partnership with a well-established and innovative school in Blackpool to recruit an experienced School Office Manager to provide essential leadership and support during a period of staffing transition.

    This is a full-time temporary opportunity offering the chance to play a key role in the day-to-day running of a busy school office, leading administrative operations and ensuring compliance across a range of school functions. Your working hours will be 8am-4pm Monday to Friday, and you may be required for 6-8 weeks starting ASAP. A DBS on the update service would be an advantage.

    Your new role

    As School Office Manager, you will oversee the smooth and efficient management of the school office, providing operational support across administration, finance, HR and compliance.
    Key responsibilities will include:

    Managing the day-to-day operations of the school office
    Leading and supporting the administrative team
    Overseeing finance and administrative processes
    Managing transactional HR and payroll administration
    Maintaining personnel records and ensuring safer recruitment compliance
    Supporting Single Central Record (SCR) compliance and safeguarding requirements
    Producing accurate reports and maintaining school records
    Liaising with staff, parents, external agencies and senior leaders
    Ensuring efficient administrative systems are in place and operating effectivelyWhat you'll need to succeed

    Previous experience in a senior school administration or office management role
    Strong knowledge of school systems, processes and compliance requirements
    Experience maintaining the Single Central Record (SCR)
    Understanding of safer recruitment procedures
    Experience using school MIS systems, ideally Arbor
    Knowledge of finance systems and processes
    Excellent organisational and people management skills
