How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Recruitment Consultant

    Location: Reading (Hybrid)

Salary: Competitive base + Uncapped commission + Benefits

    Contract: Full Time, Permanent

We are seeking an ambitious, commercially minded Recruitment Consultant to join our growing recruitment team based in Reading (hybrid). This is an excellent opportunity for someone with sales or business development experience, or an energetic graduate eager to build a career in recruitment. You will receive structured training and ongoing coaching to develop skills in candidate attraction, client development, relationship management and full-cycle recruitment.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Proactively source and attract high-quality candidates using job boards, LinkedIn, social media, direct approaches, referrals and networking.

    * Manage the full recruitment lifecycle from brief to offer: job advertising, candidate screening, interviewing, shortlisting, client presentation, feedback and offer negotiation.

    * Conduct efficient and thorough candidate screening calls and interviews to assess skills, cultural fit and career objectives.

    * Build and maintain strong, consultative relationships with candidates and clients, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the hiring process.

    * Generate new business through targeted prospecting, lead generation, outbound calling, warm calling, market mapping and attendance at networking events.

    * Support account management activities and grow existing client relationships by identifying opportunities for additional hires and talent solutions.

    * Advertise vacancies across multiple channels, create compelling job specs and manage applications to ensure a positive candidate experience.

    * Maintain accurate and timely records in the CRM/ATS—updating candidate profiles, client contacts, activity logs and placement outcomes.

    * Meet and exceed personal and team KPI targets (e.g. submittals, interviews arranged, placements, billings and revenue generation).

    * Collaborate with colleagues to share market insight, candidate pipelines and best practice; contribute to a supportive team culture.

    * Keep up to date with market trends, salary benchmarks and competitor activity relevant to your recruitment specialism.

    Required Qualifications

    * Proven success in a sales, business development, or target-driven role OR demonstrable motivation and commercial awareness suitable for a recruitment environment considered.

    * Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and build rapport at all levels.

    * Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time-management abilities; able to manage multiple live assignments concurrently.

    * Resilient, self-motivated and target driven with a positive, solution-focused attitude under pressure.

    * Comfortable with technology and CRM systems; able to maintain accurate records and follow processes.

    * Professional approach to confidentiality, compliance and candidate care (right to work, GDPR awareness, reference checking basics).

    Preferred Qualifications

    * Previous recruitment experience (1+ years) or experience in talent acquisition, resourcing or headhunting.

    * Experience using recruitment CRMs/ATS (e.g. Bullhorn, Salesforce, JobAdder or similar).

    * Demonstrable track record of generating new business, closing deals and meeting revenue targets.

    * Knowledge of a particular industry sector (e.g. technology, finance, engineering, professional services) is advantageous but not essential.

    * Familiarity with Boolean search techniques, advanced LinkedIn sourcing and social recruiting strategies.

    * Experience conducting competency-based and commercial interviews, and managing offer negotiations preferred

    Benefits & Compensation

    * Competitive base salary with an uncapped commission scheme—direct reward for performance and growth.

    * Regular incentives, spot bonuses and performance-based rewards.

    * Clear career progression and professional development including training, mentoring and access to industry learning resources.

    * Supportive, collaborative team culture with regular team events and coaching sessions.

    * Hybrid working model with office-based days in Reading and flexible remote working.

    * Company benefits package (details may include pension contributions, holiday allowance, employee assistance programmes and other perks).

    * Opportunities for internal promotion into senior consultant, team lead or business development roles as you progress.

We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds. Reasonable adjustments will be made for candidates with disabilities during the recruitment process on request
