How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Utility Surveyor
    Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
    Location: Crawley
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Utility Surveyor to join a growing and professional team delivering specialist surveying services across a range of construction, infrastructure, utilities and development projects.
    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveyor looking for a long-term permanent position, with the opportunity to work across a variety of projects and develop their career within a growing organisation.
    The Role
    As a Utility Surveyor, you will be responsible for carrying out accurate and compliant utility surveys across a variety of sites and projects.
    You will work within PAS 128 environments, using industry-standard detection equipment to locate, identify and map underground utilities and services, providing accurate information to support a wide range of construction, development and infrastructure projects.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Carry out utility surveys in accordance with PAS 128 standards and project requirements.
    * Accurately locate and identify underground utilities and services.
    * Confidently operate EM locators, CAT & Genny and other utility detection equipment.
    * Use GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) where required.
    * Produce accurate survey information and maintain high standards of data quality.
    * Work safely and efficiently across a variety of sites and working environments.
    * Manage your own workload and ensure projects are completed within agreed deadlines.
    * Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, site teams and colleagues.
    * Identify and report potential hazards and follow all relevant Health & Safety procedures.
    * Ensure all work is completed to the required quality and industry standards.
    Requirements
    The successful candidate will have:
    * Proven experience delivering utility surveys within PAS 128 environments.
    * Confident experience using EM locators and CAT & Genny.
    * Experience or exposure to GPR.
    * The ability to work independently, manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
    * A good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
    * Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate survey information.
    * Good communication and organisational skills.
    * A full UK driving licence
