How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Title: Care Trainer – Learning Disabilities & Autism

    Location: West Wickham

    Salary: £38,000 – £42,000

    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

This position does not offer visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK, with no requirement for employer sponsorship or visa support.

Please read carefully before applying: this role requires hands-on, direct experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism within a supported living or residential care setting. This is essential and non-negotiable.

    Overview

Compass Associates is recruiting on behalf of a specialist provider of supported living services for adults with learning disabilities and autism, currently going through an exciting period of growth. This is a health and social care training role, not a classroom teaching position you will be training care staff, within care settings, on the skills needed to support adults with learning disabilities and autism.

This newly created role offers full ownership of the organisation's training matrix and mandatory training programme, having previously relied on outsourced provision. It is a fantastic opportunity for someone who already knows this client group inside out, and wants to move from delivering direct support into shaping how a whole staff team is trained to deliver it.

    The Role

As the organisation's first in-house Learning and Development Coordinator, you will take ownership of the training matrix, mandatory training programme, and staff development records, working closely with the Registered Manager, Project Managers and Team Leaders based in West Wickham. You will plan, coordinate and deliver mandatory and specialist training, and assess staff competency following training.

You will deliver training directly within services wherever possible including care certificate competency sign-off, moving and handling, and autism and learning disability awareness training reducing the need for staff to be taken off-site. With a full staff team to bring up to standard, the first six months will be a busy and rewarding period of embedding training across the organisation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Take ownership of the training matrix, mandatory training programme and staff development records

    • Plan, coordinate and deliver mandatory training, including safeguarding, medication, moving and handling, and Mental Capacity Act/DoLS

    • Deliver specialist training where qualified, including diabetes, epilepsy and buccal midazolam

    • Deliver autism and learning disability awareness training that promotes person-centred, dignified practice

    • Assess staff competency following training and identify further learning needs

    • Coordinate external trainers where specialist qualifications or sign-off are required

    • Produce training compliance reports and support managers to maintain safe staffing competence

    • Support the staff induction programme and probation/supervision processes with training input

    Requirements

    Essential:

    • Hands-on, direct experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, gained specifically within a supported living or residential care service

    • Knowledge of CQC expectations and mandatory training requirements in adult social care

    • Ability to manage a training matrix and monitor compliance

    • Full UK driving licence, required for travel between services

    • A genuine passion for imparting knowledge and developing others

    Desirable:

    • Previous experience working as a trainer within health and social care

    • Train the Trainer qualification, or a Level 3 Award in Education and Training

    • Moving and Handling Trainer, First Aid Instructor/EFAW, or specialist diabetes/epilepsy training qualifications

    Benefits

    • Competitive salary of £38,000 – £42,000

    • The opportunity to build and shape a brand new training function

    • Full support from a close-knit senior leadership team

    Working Pattern

    • Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

    • Based on-site in West Wickham, with travel to services for training delivery

    • No on-call requirement

    Commutable from:

West Wickham, Bromley, Beckenham, Croydon, Orpington, Sidcup, Bexleyheath, Eltham, Lewisham, Catford, Penge, Chislehurst, Dartford, Sevenoaks, Caterham, Purley, Oxted, Biggin Hill, Shirley, Hayes, Addington, Crystal Palace, Welling, Greenwich, Blackheath, Woolwich, Swanley, Westerham and surrounding areas.
