How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Company: Tyréns UK Limited

    Role: Interim Legal Counsel

    Location: City of London (Hybrid)

    Status: Contract (3-6 months)

    Rate: £550 - £650 per day Inside IR35

    Start Date: ASAP

The Tyréns Group is an independent multi-disciplinary engineering and design consultancy with a turnover of £275 million, delivering sustainable solutions across the built environment and infrastructure sectors. Owned by a trust, we reinvest all profits into innovation, research and growth, creating long-term value for our people, clients and communities. With headquarters in Sweden and offices across the world, we combine international expertise with a collaborative, people-focused approach.

At Tyréns UK, we believe in creating lasting impact through innovative design and engineering solutions. As a forward-thinking consultancy, we’re dedicated to shaping the future of infrastructure and urban development, all while prioritising sustainability, collaboration and excellence.

We are looking for a motivated and commercially minded Interim Legal Counsel to join our growing UK legal team. This is a fantastic opportunity to build broad in-house experience within a leading engineering and design consultancy, supporting major infrastructure, buildings and urban development projects across the UK and internationally.

Working closely with the Legal Director and senior business leaders, you'll take ownership of a wide range of legal matters from day one, with a focus on commercial contracts and disputes and claims, including gaining exposure to cross-border legal issues.

This role is ideal for a lawyer who enjoys variety, values responsibility and wants to become a trusted legal adviser within a collaborative and growing business.

    The role & responsibilities

    • Drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial contracts across multiple jurisdictions, including framework agreements, consultancy appointments (including industry standard forms), subcontracts, NDAs, collateral warranties, novation agreements, and procurement and supply agreements
    • Supporting and, where appropriate, leading the management of disputes and claims (both by and against the business), including liaising with insurers, external legal support and other advisers
    • Horizon scanning and advising on upcoming legal changes that impact the business
    • Providing legal support on a range of day-to-day business activities and initiatives

    Your qualities

You will need to be able to work well as part of a small, busy, friendly team and operate across the wider business, with an ability to think and advise commercially and work collaboratively with other functions and businesses within the Group.

You will be commercially minded, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You will enjoy partnering with colleagues across the business, finding practical solutions to complex issues and balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.

We’d like to hear from you if you have:

    • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent common law jurisdiction) with 3-5 years' PQE, preferably with exposure to the construction, engineering and/or infrastructure sectors
    • Experience of drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of contracts and agreements
    • Involvement in the management of commercial disputes
    • The ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders
    • Team player, with the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels, including cross-functionally with other business functions
    • Pragmatic and solution-driven approach, with strong business acumen and judgement
    • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively influence people at all levels and advise on complex matters with clarity
    • Good organisational skills and the ability to work on numerous tasks concurrently, prioritising effectively and managing competing deadlines
    • Confidence in managing matters independently while knowing when to escalate and seek guidance
