How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

You'll support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

If you're passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people and thrive in a supportive, nurturing environment, we'd love to hear from you.

    About the Role

As an SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom. You'll develop positive, trusting relationships with students, helping them regulate their emotions, improve their behaviour, and engage successfully with learning.

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, families, and external professionals, you will provide consistent, tailored support that meets each pupil's individual needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Build positive, professional relationships with pupils, acting as a trusted role model.
    • Support pupils with SEMH needs using trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
    • Deliver targeted interventions to improve behaviour, emotional wellbeing, attendance, and classroom engagement.
    • Provide one-to-one and small group support during lessons.
    • Respond calmly and confidently to challenging behaviour, following school policies and behaviour strategies.
    • Contribute to behaviour support plans, risk assessments, and progress reviews.
    • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, safeguarding leads, parents/carers, and external agencies.
    • Promote an inclusive, safe, and nurturing learning environment.
    • Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress and behaviour.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

    • Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs, or additional needs.
    • Understands trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches, and positive behaviour support.
    • Is calm, patient, resilient, and able to remain professional in challenging situations.
    • Can build positive relationships based on trust, consistency, and respect.
    • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
    • Has a genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people reach their full potential.

    Desirable

    • Experience working within an SEN school, specialist provision, alternative provision, or similar educational setting.
    • Team Teach, PRICE, or other positive handling training (or willingness to complete training).
    • Knowledge of safeguarding, SEND, and SEMH best practice.
    • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above), or equivalent.

    What We Offer

    • Ongoing CPD and specialist training.
    • A supportive and welcoming team across our partner schools in Guildford.
    • Opportunities for long-term and permanent positions.
    • A rewarding role where you can make a lasting impact on young people's lives.

If you're looking to begin or continue a rewarding career supporting children with additional needs, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today to join Milk Education and help make a positive difference in schools across Farnborough, Hampshire
