How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Behaviour Mentor – PRU

    Behaviour Mentor | PRU | Excluded Students | SEMH | Behaviour Support | Full-Time | September Start | London

Are you passionate about helping young people who have struggled in mainstream education and need a fresh start?

A specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) is seeking a resilient and committed Behaviour Mentor to support students who may have experienced exclusion, persistent disengagement and challenging behaviour.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who can build trust while maintaining clear boundaries and who understands that strong relationships are often the first step towards re-engaging a young person with education.

The Role - As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
    • Build positive relationships with students who may be disengaged or resistant to education.
    • Support young people who have been excluded from mainstream school.
    • Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring and behavioural support.
    • Help students develop emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
    • De-escalate challenging situations using calm and consistent approaches.
    • Encourage students to attend, participate and re-engage with learning.
    • Support students during lessons, transitions and unstructured periods.
    • Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to maintain consistent behaviour strategies.
    • Help students develop confidence, resilience and independence.
    • Contribute to a safe, structured and positive environment.
    What We're Looking For
    • Experience working with young people is desirable but not essential.
    • Experience in PRU, AP, SEMH, behaviour, youth work, mentoring or care is advantageous.
    • Resilient and confident managing challenging behaviour.
    • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
    • Able to maintain professional boundaries and consistency.
    • Patient, positive and non-judgemental.
    • A genuine belief in the potential of every young person.
Graduates, youth workers, sports coaches, ex-police/military, support workers and experienced TAs are encouraged to apply.
