How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Associate Civil Engineer
    Location: Sevenoaks
    Salary up to £80,000 (maybe more DOE) + Benefits

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate Civil Engineer to join a well-established and respected Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Civil Engineer looking to take a senior role within a growing Civil Engineering team, leading the technical delivery of projects while supporting the continued development of engineers and technicians.

    The successful Associate Civil Engineer will take ownership of civil engineering and infrastructure projects from initial feasibility and concept design through planning, detailed design and construction. Projects span a diverse range of sectors including major regeneration schemes, education, commercial developments, sports facilities, residential developments, highways and earthworks.

    The role will combine technical leadership, project management, client liaison and team development, with responsibility for drainage, highways, external works, levels, earthworks and wider infrastructure design.

    Associate Civil Engineer Job Overview

    Lead the technical delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
    Manage projects from feasibility and planning through detailed design and construction.
    Lead highways, external works, levels, earthworks and wider site infrastructure design.
    Lead the preparation of drainage strategies and the design of SuDS, foul drainage and surface water drainage systems.
    Prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations, models, specifications and technical reports.
    Manage and mentor engineers and technicians within the Civil Engineering team.
    Coordinate with clients, architects and multidisciplinary design teams.
    Liaise with Local Authorities, LLFAs, water companies, Highway Authorities and other statutory bodies.
    Manage project programmes, resources, fees and technical deliverables.
    Support the preparation of fee proposals and the commercial management of projects.
    Attend client meetings and carry out site inspections where required.
    Contribute to the continued growth and development of the Civil Engineering team.

    Associate Civil Engineer Job Requirements

    Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
    Chartered Civil Engineer or making significant progress towards Chartership.
    Strong UK consultancy experience within civil engineering, drainage and infrastructure design.
    Experience leading the technical delivery of civil engineering projects.
    Experience managing and mentoring engineers and technicians.
    Strong knowledge of SuDS, flood risk, foul and surface water drainage design.
    Experienced in highways, external works, levels, earthworks and site infrastructure design.
    Experience using Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
    Experience with InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, MicroDrainage or similar drainage design software.
    Experience with Section 38, Section 278 and Section 104 Agreements would be advantageous.
    Strong communication, coordination and client-facing skills.
    Good commercial awareness, including managing project programmes, resources and fees.
    Experience in Contract Administration would be advantageous.
    Full UK Driving Licence.
