You'll manage your own caseload of food hygiene and food standards inspections, working across a mixed portfolio of premises — from small takeaways to larger commercial operators.
What the role covers:
* Routine food hygiene inspections under the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme
* Food standards work and sampling where required
* Investigating complaints and following up on non-compliance
* Enforcement action — advice, informal warnings, statutory notices through to prosecution referral where necessary
* Liaising with FBOs, EHOs, and other council teams
* Accurate case recording and report writing to council/FSA standards
We need someone who:
* Is a qualified EHO (CIEH/RSPH or equivalent) or has substantial demonstrable food safety experience
* Holds current competency in food hygiene inspections (and food standards, if applicable)
* Can hit the ground running with minimal supervision
* Has strong working knowledge of the Food Safety Act, Regulation (EC) 852/2004, and FHRS
* Is confident dealing with FBOs directly, including difficult conversations
