Associate / Senior Associate – Data & Cyber | London
A London law firm is looking to hire at both Associate and Senior Associate level into its Data & Cyber practice.
The role is intended to be broad, with work split across data protection/privacy and cyber matters rather than sitting exclusively within one specialism. The team handles a mix of advisory, regulatory, incident response and disputes-related work for clients across a range of sectors, including consumer-facing businesses, insurers and not-for-profit organisations.
The team is particularly open-minded on background. They would be interested in speaking with lawyers who have experience in areas such as:
- Data protection and privacy advisory work
- Cyber incidents and breach response
- Regulatory and compliance matters
- Data-related disputes
- A combination of privacy and cyber work
Candidates could come from private practice, an in-house legal team, or have experience across both. An in-house background is viewed positively, particularly where someone has had meaningful responsibility for data protection, privacy or cyber matters.
The team is also open to candidates who have followed a less traditional qualification route, including those who have qualified through the SQE, where the underlying experience is relevant.
There is no requirement to be a pure cyber specialist or a pure data protection lawyer. The preference is for someone who is interested in developing across both areas and is comfortable working on a varied practice.
Beyond technical experience, the team places a significant emphasis on how someone works, particularly collaboration, judgement, client skills and the ability to operate comfortably within a close-knit team.
This could therefore suit someone with a strong Data/Cyber foundation whose background does not necessarily fit the conventional City law firm mould.
