How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Legal Contract Risk Advisor

    £90,000 - £105,000

    Bristol (hybrid working)

    Permanent, Full Time

Sellick Partnership is partnered with a leading professional services organisation to recruit an experienced Legal & Contractual Risk Advisor into a specialist advisory team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial or public-sector lawyer with strong contract drafting and negotiation experience to work across commercial contracts, procurement, contractual risk and insurance.

The role will support major public-sector and government organisations, helping them develop and negotiate contracts with suppliers delivering major projects and services.

You will be responsible for drafting contracts and bespoke clauses around risk, liability and insurance, determining the requirements suppliers need to meet and negotiating these provisions with suppliers and their legal representatives.

The role would suit a lawyer from a public-sector, government, procurement, commercial contracts or regulated environment. Experience with contractual risk, insurance or risk allocation would be advantageous.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial contracts on behalf of public-sector and government clients.
    • Draft bespoke provisions covering risk allocation, liability, indemnities and insurance requirements.
    • Determine appropriate contractual and insurance requirements for suppliers and bidders.
    • Review tender and procurement documentation and advise on contractual risk.
    • Negotiate contractual and insurance provisions with suppliers and their legal representatives.
    • Advise on liability caps, indemnities, waivers and other risk-transfer mechanisms.
    • Review supplier responses and proposed amendments to contractual and insurance requirements.
    • Work closely with legal, procurement, commercial, finance, risk and project teams.
    • Provide clear, practical advice on contractual risk and supplier compliance.

    What we're looking for:

    • Qualified solicitor or barrister with approximately 6+ years' PQE.
    • Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
    • Experience within public sector, government, procurement or a regulated environment would be highly advantageous.
    • Strong understanding of contractual risk, including liability, indemnities, insurance and supplier obligations.
    • Experience advising on tenders, procurement exercises or supplier contracts.
    • Confidence negotiating contractual terms directly with suppliers and counterparties.
    • Some knowledge of commercial insurance and insurance clauses would be beneficial, but is not essential.
    • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to provide practical advice to senior stakeholders.

    What's in it for you?

    • £90,000 - £105,000 salary.
    • Hybrid working with up to three days working from home.
    • 25 days' annual leave + bank holidays.
    • Strong wider benefits package.
    • Exposure to major government and public-sector organisations, including complex projects and procurement exercises.
    • A varied role combining commercial contracts, public-sector procurement, contractual risk and insurance.
    • Opportunity to develop your career within a specialist advisory environment.
