How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Position Overview:

    We invite researchers and scientists to join us as Section Editor for the journal "Current Gene Therapy" to contribute to a research area (section) most relevant to their field of expertise.


    The candidates for the Section Editor position should have a proven track record of scholarly publishing and organising a Topical Issue in a specialised area of research (section), and they should be able to assemble a collection of high-quality research/review articles related to their section.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Contributing articles and Topical Issues to the journal
    • Developing a comprehensive proposal for a Topical Issue that highlights its importance and details prospective contributors. (preferably every year)
    • Collaborating with possible co-editors to effectively organise the special topical issue and coordinate with authors, ensuring a smooth editorial process.
    • Inviting contributors from technologically advanced countries, focusing on those with a proven publication record.
    • Promoting the special issue to enhance its visibility and impact.


    Qualifications and Experience:

    • PhD in a field of research relevant to the journal
    • A valid Scopus ID
    • Prior experience in publishing topical issues in peer-reviewed journals.
    • They must have a list of scholarly authors who can consent to contribute research / review articles in the topical issue(s) proposed by them.
    • Strong networks within the research community.
    • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
    • Familiarity with scientific publication and peer review processes.

    How to Apply:


    Interested candidates are invited to submit their CVs; list of publications, and their preferred ‘Section Title’ that aligns with the Aims & Scope of the journal. The Section Editors are also expected to provide their Proposal for a Topical Issue related to their chosen Section. The proposal should include the title and scope of the Topical Issue, relevant keywords, sub-topics, and preferably, the article titles, a list of potential contributors, and article submission deadlines.


    Special Instructions:

    • Each author/co-author is welcome to contribute one paper to the Topical Issue
    • Contributions must adhere to the topic of the issue and be approved by the Editor-in-Chief.
    • Manuscript submission extensions will be limited to 60 days.


    *The provision of Scopus ID is a MUST for the application to be shortlisted.
