How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Civil Engineer

Location: Bristol / UK-based (Supporting Nuclear New Build Programmes)

    Job Type: Full-time

Security Clearance: UK Background Check / Vetting Required (Sponsorship Not Available - Right to Work in the UK required)

    About the Client:

Our client is a highly respected nuclear services and engineering consultation specialist supporting major energy, defense, and civil infrastructure programmes across the UK. Known for delivering expert technical safety, radiation protection, and engineering solutions, they partner closely with Tier 1 nuclear developers to deliver complex infrastructure projects.

They offer a collaborative working environment where engineers are supported with continuous professional development, ongoing technical exposure to flagship energy projects, and competitive remuneration.

    About the Opportunity:

This role supports the Civil Engineering division responsible for the replication design strategy transitioning from Hinkley Point C (HPC) to Sizewell C (SZC). Operating under the nuclear island design framework, the Civil Engineer will update and develop Building Technical Specifications (BTS) for Sizewell C by replicating, reviewing, and adapting existing HPC technical documentation.

You will play a critical role in conducting gap analyses, identifying SZC-specific civil requirements, liaising with main civil works contractors, and ensuring all structural specifications comply fully with British Standards and UK Health & Safety regulations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Technical Specification & Document Replication

Gap Analysis & Review: Perform and review gap analyses between HPC and SZC project parameters to evaluate the applicability of existing Building Technical Specifications (BTS).

Data Collection & Adaptation: Gather necessary technical data to identify required updates, modifications, and site-specific civil engineering requirements for SZC.

BTS Authoring & Updating: Draft and update the SZC BTS documentation, ensuring full alignment with civil structural requirements and soil geotechnics studies.

Document Management: Submit updated SZC BTS documentation for review, address technical comments raised by the client company, and issue final approved packages for main construction usage.

    Stakeholder & Contractor Interface

Kick-Off & Governance: Participate actively in Kick-off Meetings (KoM) and technical alignment sessions with the SZC Client team and Main Civil Works Contractors (MCWC).

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all updated technical specifications conform strictly to British Standards and UK Health & Safety legislation (e.g., HSWA 1974, CDM 2015 regulations).

    Candidate Profile:

    Experience & Level

Experience Range: 3 to 6 years of post-graduate civil engineering experience within complex, regulated structural or infrastructure projects.

Industry Sector: Nuclear industry experience (specifically exposure to HPC civil scopes or UK nuclear new build design sequences) is highly advantageous.

    Qualifications & Technical Knowledge

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).

Codes & Standards: Strong working knowledge and understanding of civil engineering codes, structural standards, and soil geotechnics studies.

Health & Safety: Sound working understanding of UK Health & Safety regulations, including CDM 2015 frameworks.

    Key Competencies

Technical Precision: Exceptional attention to detail in technical writing, document review, and code-compliance tracking.

Right to Work: Must possess full current Right to Work in the UK without restriction (Visa sponsorship is not available for this position)
