How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Mechanical Engineer

    London | Hybrid Working | £50,000 - £65,000

    We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing MEP consultancy team in London.

    This is an exciting opportunity for a talented mechanical engineer who wants to work on high-profile, technically challenging and genuinely interesting projects, while being part of a collaborative consultancy where your expertise and ideas are valued.

    The Role

    As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of mechanical building services projects from concept through to completion. You'll work closely with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop innovative, practical and sustainable engineering solutions.

    You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, provide technical leadership and help develop the next generation of engineers within the business.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead the mechanical design and delivery of projects across a range of sectors.
    Develop innovative, energy-efficient and sustainable mechanical engineering solutions.
    Produce and review technical designs, calculations, specifications and drawings.
    Take responsibility for projects from initial concept through to detailed design and construction.
    Coordinate mechanical services with electrical, structural and architectural disciplines.
    Work closely with clients and project stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
    Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers.
    Attend project meetings, site visits and design reviews as required.
    Assist with project planning, fee proposals and resource management.
    Ensure designs meet relevant British Standards, regulations and industry best practice.
    Contribute to the continued development of engineering standards, processes and technical capabilities.

    What We're Looking For

    We're looking for someone who combines strong technical ability with excellent communication and a genuine passion for engineering.

    You'll ideally have:

    Significant experience in mechanical building services design within an MEP consultancy environment.
    A relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
    Strong knowledge of mechanical building services and current industry standards.
    Experience taking responsibility for projects and delivering them to programme and budget.
    Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
    Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced engineers.
    Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery.
    Chartered status or working towards Chartership would be advantageous.Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is curious, collaborative and keen to make an impact.
