We are looking for a hands-on Electromechanical Assembly Technician to join our clients engineering team, located near Royston.
This is a practical, varied role for someone who enjoys building complex hardware, understanding how things work and spotting opportunities to improve them. You'll work closely with engineers and colleagues across the business to assemble and test equipment, inspect components, interpret drawings and CAD models, troubleshoot issues and make sure every build is accurately documented.
Responsibilities:
- Build and assemble electromechanical equipment accurately, working from engineering drawings, CAD models and assembly instructions
- Test equipment to make sure it works as intended and support design verification and performance testing
- Check components before and during assembly, identifying any issues early and helping to prevent problems further down the line
- Use CAD models and technical drawings to understand how components and assemblies fit together, raising any questions or concerns with the engineering team
- Use your practical experience to suggest improvements to designs, assembly methods and build processes
- Support the installation of completed equipment
- Work closely with engineering, build and test teams to identify and resolve issues and ensure build records and documentation are kept up to date
- Investigate problems, identify root causes and clearly communicate your findings to help get things resolved
- Take responsibility for maintaining high standards of safety, quality, accuracy and housekeeping throughout the build and testing process
Requirements:
- Experience in electromechanical assembly and be confident working with complex mechanical and electrical equipment
- Experience using CAD software, ideally SolidWorks
- Experience working with document control or management systems such as PDM and Cognidox
- An understanding of MRP and ERP systems, with knowledge of NetSuite being an advantage
- Good practical skills and confidence using hand tools and precision measuring equipment, including digital calipers
- Experience troubleshooting technical issues and identifying root causes
- The ability to communicate clearly, particularly when explaining technical issues or suggesting improvements
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to share your ideas and practical experience
- A strong focus on quality, safety, accuracy and attention to detail
