How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About National Fostering Group

It’s official – we have been rated as a Great Place to Work 2025!

88% of employees at National Fostering Group say it is a great place to work, compared to 54% of employees at a typical UK-based company.

With over 20 years’ experience, National Fostering Group is the largest independent children’s fostering group in the UK, with a community of over 2,500 foster carers.

As a Group, we work with Local Authorities to provide the highest quality of care for children and young people. All of our fostering agencies are officially recognised by Ofsted and the Welsh and Scottish regulators as either ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’, which we are extremely proud of.

    About the Role

As our Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will play a key role in attracting and engaging high-quality talent for senior, specialist and hard to fill vacancies across the Group.

Working closely with hiring managers and the wider People Team, you will take a proactive approach to identifying, engaging and building relationships with talented candidates, including passive talent. You will develop direct sourcing strategies, build talent pools and pipelines and provide expert recruitment support throughout the recruitment lifecycle.

You will also contribute to reducing our reliance on external recruitment agencies, improving our approach to candidate attraction and delivering a positive experience for both candidates and hiring managers. The role will involve working with a range of stakeholders across the Group, as well as contributing to recruitment attraction, employer brand and wider recruitment initiatives.

You will also champion our commitment to safer recruitment, helping to ensure we maintain high standards of safeguarding throughout our recruitment processes.

    Who we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced recruitment or talent acquisition professional with a strong, hands-on approach to candidate sourcing. You will have experience recruiting for senior, specialist and hard to fill roles and be confident identifying and engaging high-quality candidates through job boards, CV databases, LinkedIn and other sourcing channels.

You will enjoy the challenge of finding the right people, using effective search techniques to identify both active and passive candidates. You will be proactive and persistent in your approach, with experience building and maintaining talent pipelines to support both current and future recruitment needs.

You will be a strong relationship builder, able to engage candidates effectively and work closely with hiring managers and senior stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver the right recruitment solutions. Excellent communication, organisation and attention to detail are essential, alongside confidence using recruitment systems and sourcing tools.

You will be passionate about delivering a positive candidate experience, keeping up to date with recruitment trends and sourcing techniques and contributing to a proactive and effective recruitment approach. A commitment to safer recruitment and safeguarding is essential.

But what else is in it for you?
