How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Summary:
    The Warehouse Operative is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, ensuring the efficient management of stock, equipment, deliveries and warehouse facilities. The role is critical in supporting both our Operations and Engineering teams by ensuring equipment, materials and consumables are available, compliant and delivered to customer and operational deadlines.
    This is a hands-on position that combines warehouse management, stock control, equipment preparation, basic maintenance activities and continuous improvement responsibilities.
    Primary Objectives:
    * Check incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    * Store goods correctly and maintain organised warehouse locations.
    * Scan and submit delivery documentation to Operations for processing and stock recording.
    * Package, palletise and prepare equipment for shipment to customers and project sites.
    * Coordinate with Operations and Engineering teams to ensure equipment is available to meet customer deadlines.
    * Manage returned goods from customers and site teams, recording, tracking and following through to resolution.
    * Undertake formal six-monthly stock takes and support any additional inventory audits.
    * Monitor chemical, consumables and engineering parts stock usage trends and communicate replenishment requirements to the Operations team.
    * Conduct regular checks to ensure no critical parts are left unaccounted for or unavailable when required.
    * Ensure all equipment is built, assembled and tested to the required quality standard and within agreed timescales for customer delivery and engineer use.
    * Support PAT testing activities for office and warehouse equipment in line with current health and safety guidance.
    * Maintain a safe, clean and organised warehouse environment.
    * Complete daily and weekly warehouse inspections and reports covering health and safety, housekeeping and stock levels.
    * Ensure compliance with all company procedures, health and safety requirements and Goodwater policies.
    * Manage chemical storage areas safely and in accordance with company procedures and relevant legislation.
    * Identify and address potential hazards and report concerns promptly.
    * Help develop and document warehouse procedures and best practices to enhance warehouse accuracy, reliability and safety.
    Performance will be measured against:
    Warehouse organisation and housekeeping standards.
    Stock accuracy and inventory control.
    Equipment build and dispatch performance.
    Achievement of customer delivery deadlines.
    Compliance with health and safety requirements.
    Quality and completion of warehouse documentation.
    Contribution to continuous improvement initiatives.
    About You:
    Qualifications/Experience:
    Essential
    GCSEs/O Levels or equivalent qualification.
    Full UK Driving Licence (to support Fleet Manager with van movements to local garages)
    Strong organisational and planning skills to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
    Good understanding of stock control processes.
    Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
    Recent experience using email and business communication platforms such as Microsoft Teams.
    Ability to work independently and use initiative.
    Practical, hands-on approach to work.
    Sufficient physical fitness to regularly move stock of 25kg chemical drums
    Desirable
    Previous warehouse experience (2 years preferred but full training will be given).
    Experience building, assembling or testing equipment.
    Plumbing, electrical or mechanical experience.
    Experience working within a technical, engineering or service environment.
    Understanding of health and safety procedures within warehouse operations.
