How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Pay: £100 – £130 per day
    Location: Southampton
    Hours: 8:00am – 3:30pm

Supply Desk are working closely with a forward-thinking and inclusive all-through school in Southampton, who are seeking a confident, reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate, aspiring teacher, Cover Supervisor or experienced education professional looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a supportive and ambitious school environment.

The successful candidate will supervise pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects, ensuring students remain engaged, focused and on task in the absence of their usual teacher.

    Overview

Supply Desk are currently seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to work within a welcoming and inclusive school in Southampton.

This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

The role will involve supervising pre-set work across the secondary phase, maintaining high expectations for behaviour and learning and supporting students throughout the school day.

No planning or marking is required, making this an ideal opportunity for graduates and aspiring teachers looking to develop their classroom management skills and gain valuable experience before progressing into teaching.

    About the School

The school's approach is centred around three core values: Love, Belonging and Service, with a strong emphasis on creating a safe and welcoming environment where every student can feel that they belong.

The school is committed to developing confident, resilient and lifelong learners, with high expectations for both academic achievement and behaviour. Staff work closely with students and families to ensure pupils receive the support and encouragement they need to achieve their potential.

One of the school's key strengths is its all-through structure. Students benefit from continuity as they progress through the different stages of their education, while older students have opportunities to develop leadership and mentoring skills by supporting younger pupils.

The school also makes effective use of its shared facilities, giving students opportunities to learn and interact across different age groups. Support staff are deployed across the wider school according to the individual needs of students, creating a genuinely collaborative environment.

The school places a strong emphasis on inclusion and serving the local Southampton community, with students supported irrespective of their background, circumstances or educational needs. The overall ethos is one of high standards, nurture and excellence, with staff working together to help every student thrive.

    The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

    Following school policies and procedures.

Providing support and encouragement to students where required.

Liaising with teaching and support staff to ensure effective communication.

Supporting the wider school community when required.

We are looking for Cover Supervisors who:

Have experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, mentoring or youth setting.

Are confident managing a classroom and maintaining positive behaviour.

Can communicate clearly and build positive relationships with students.

Have the confidence to supervise students across different subjects and year groups.

Have high expectations of student behaviour and achievement.

Are reliable, professional and committed to safeguarding.

Hold a degree or have relevant experience working within schools (desirable but not essential).

Are passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their potential.

Have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one.
