How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy supporting Network Rail infrastructure projects, is seeking an experienced Construction Responsible Engineer (CRE) to join a key depot enhancement and rail infrastructure programme in the North West.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an established CRE who is looking to broaden their engineering management responsibilities and develop towards a Contractor's Engineering Manager (CEM) position. You will work closely with project engineering teams and other stakeholders, gaining exposure to engineering assurance, design integration and project delivery processes across a live rail environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

Act as the nominated Construction Responsible Engineer (CRE) within your discipline
Ensure engineering and construction activities are delivered safely and in accordance with Network Rail standards, governance and project requirements
Provide engineering oversight throughout construction and implementation phases
Review and manage technical documentation, work packages, engineering deliverables and assurance records
Support engineering planning, risk management and change control processes
Coordinate with designers, project managers, construction teams and Network Rail stakeholders
Assist with engineering acceptance and assurance activities
Monitor compliance with relevant standards, specifications and safety requirements
Participate in site inspections, progress meetings and technical reviews
Support the development of engineering management processes and contribute towards wider project engineering leadership activities

    About You:

Current or previous experience operating as a CRE on Network Rail projects
Strong understanding of Network Rail engineering assurance and project delivery processes
Experience working within multidisciplinary rail infrastructure environments
Familiar with railway standards, construction methodologies and engineering governance requirements
Comfortable engaging with multiple stakeholders across consultancy, contractor and client teams
Excellent communication and technical reporting skills
Proactive approach to problem solving and engineering risk management

    Desirable Experience:

Aspirations to progress into a Contractor's Engineering Manager (CEM) role
Previous exposure to engineering management, engineering assurance or discipline leadership responsibilities
Experience within depot, signalling, track, civils, M&E or multidisciplinary rail projects
Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration
Prior experience working directly with Network Rail and Tier 1 contractors
If you are an experienced Construction Responsible Engineer (CRE) looking for a new opportunity to develop your career within the rail industry, we would love to hear from you. Apply now to join our client's dynamic team in the North West
