How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

You’ll join an experienced, supportive team with a strong focus on customer service, continuous development and long-term relationships.

    The Role

This is an opportunity for an accomplished Area Sales Manager to take ownership of a significant territory covering the North of the UK, though there is flexibility for the successful individual to be based anywhere in the UK and manage a territory relevant to their geography,

Combining account development with new business, you’ll build trusted relationships across local government, understand operational challenges and shape solutions spanning software, hardware upgrades and service contracts.

Success will come through retaining and developing existing customers, identifying new opportunities and navigating complex public-sector buying environments. You’ll also engage with strategic private-sector contractors and represent the business at regional and national industry events.

    What’s in it for you?

    * Join an established technology business with decades of experience supporting essential public services.

    * Work with solutions that make a tangible difference to local services, helping improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

    * Benefit from a supportive, collaborative environment with training, coaching and exposure to colleagues across sales, customer service and product development.

    * Attend nationwide industry events, building your sector knowledge and professional network.

    * Hybrid working offering flexibility around where you work.

    * 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.

    * Workplace pension, wellbeing support, employee recognition and retail discounts, alongside a range of flexible benefits.

    Key Role Deliverables

    * Develop and execute territory plans that deliver sustainable sales growth.

    * Retain and grow existing accounts while building a strong new-business pipeline.

    * Identify customer challenges and develop commercially compelling, tailored solutions.

    * Navigate local authority procurement processes and engage effectively with key decision-makers.

    * Build relationships with council officials, contractors and industry stakeholders.

    * Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline forecasts and sales reporting.

    * Represent Our Client professionally at conferences, exhibitions and customer meetings.

    * Collaborate across regional and internal teams to share market insight and strengthen customer propositions.

    Ideal Experience and Qualifications

    * Minimum of 3–5 years’ successful and relevant sales or account management experience.

    * Technical sales experience, ideally involving software, hardware, waste management or route-optimisation solutions.

    * Public-sector sales experience and an understanding of local government procurement would be highly advantageous.

    * Strong relationship-building, negotiation and communication skills.

    * Confident managing complex stakeholder relationships and solution-led sales.

    * Competence using CRM systems (Hubspot ideally) and Microsoft Office.

    * GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.

    * A proactive, credible and customer-focused approach, with the flexibility to travel throughout the territory and occasionally stay overnight
