How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical bias looking for a new opportunity within a manufacturing environment?

We are working with an established manufacturing business that is looking to appoint a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team following the departure of an existing team member.

This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer who enjoys working with a wide range of industrial machinery and wants the opportunity to develop their skills and progress within the business.

The successful candidate will be joining a well-established engineering function, with investment in training, site and machinery familiarisation, alongside plenty of scope for future progression into Team Leader, Supervisor and potentially Engineering Management positions.

    The Role

Working as part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance across a range of manufacturing machinery.

The role is approximately 70% mechanical / 30% electrical, making it particularly well suited to a mechanically biased Multi-Skilled Engineer who is comfortable carrying out electrical fault-finding when required.

    Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance across the manufacturing site.

Respond to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.

Fault-find and repair mechanical and electrical issues.

Maintain and repair a range of heavy industrial processing equipment.

Work on granulators, shredders, mixers and blenders.

Maintain conveyors, belts, chains, motors and associated equipment.

Assist with the installation and commissioning of new machinery.

Identify potential improvements to equipment reliability and performance.

Work safely and ensure all maintenance activities comply with company procedures.

Record maintenance activities and provide accurate information regarding work completed.

Support the wider engineering team and production departments when required.

    Equipment You'll Work On

The site offers a varied engineering environment, including:

    Granulators

    Shredders

    Mixers

    Blenders

    Conveyors

    Belts and chains

    Motors

    Production machinery

    New machinery and equipment installations

    What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical background.

    Essential:

NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum 3 years' industrial maintenance experience.

    Experience within a manufacturing environment.

Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills.

    Some electrical maintenance/fault-finding capability.

Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance.

A proactive approach to identifying and resolving engineering issues.

Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.

    Training & Progression

The company is committed to investing in its engineering team. While you'll ideally be able to hit the ground running, you'll receive site and machinery familiarisation to ensure you become fully comfortable with the equipment.

There is also excellent scope for career progression, with potential opportunities to move into Team Leader, Supervisor and management positions as the engineering function continues to develop.

    Package

    £39,000 basic salary

    No additional shift allowance

    Pension scheme

18 days holiday + bank holidays

    Full-time permanent position

    Training and machinery familiarisation

    Genuine career progression opportunities
