How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Technical Author / Document Controller

    Jarrow, Tyne and Wear

Expervent, part of the MARCH Group, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Author & Document Controller to join our growing team in Jarrow.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised individual with strong technical writing and document control experience. In this role, you will be responsible for producing, coordinating, and managing project documentation, ensuring all documents are professionally presented, accurately referenced, and controlled in line with company procedures and ISO 9001 standards. Working closely with our engineering team, you will transform technical information into high-quality, client-ready documentation while maintaining robust document control processes throughout the project lifecycle.

    Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and maintain client document templates, design review forms, and technical query trackers, ensuring information is accurately transferred between client and Expervent formats.

Review and edit documentation for clarity, structure, grammar, consistency, and adherence to company standards and templates.

Coordinate document review and approval processes, tracking comments, responses, and final approvals.

Manage project document registers, folder structures, and revision histories, ensuring superseded documents are archived appropriately.

Issue, track, and record document transmittals to clients and stakeholders.

Verify document numbering, references, and revision statuses across documents, drawings, and registers before issue.

Maintain document control systems in compliance with ISO 9001 requirements and provide supporting records for audits.

Support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of document templates and procedures.

Handle sensitive client information in accordance with company and customer security requirements.

Undertake any other duties reasonably required to support the business and the wider project team.

    Skills and Experiences:

Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and well-structured documentation from technical source material.

Excellent attention to detail, particularly in relation to formatting, grammar, accuracy, and consistency.

Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Word and Excel, including templates, styles, cross-references, tracked changes, tables, and conditional formatting.

Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple documents and deadlines simultaneously.

Experience working within a quality management environment and following client-specific document requirements.

Previous experience in a Technical Author, Document Controller, or similar technical documentation role within engineering, construction, nuclear, defence, manufacturing, or a related industry.

Degree in an essay-based discipline or equivalent professional experience demonstrating strong written communication skills.

Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and document management systems.

Experience working with formal client document review and approval processes.

Familiarity with AI-assisted writing tools and the ability to critically review and validate their output.
