How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fire Engineer to join a growing and ambitious consultancy, working on a diverse range of exciting commercial and residential projects.

    The Role

    As a Fire Engineer, you will be involved in developing and delivering Fire Strategies across a varied portfolio of projects, ranging from residential developments to complex commercial premises.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Developing fire strategies for a range of commercial and residential buildings.
    Providing fire engineering advice throughout the design and construction process.
    Working closely with architects, designers, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
    Reviewing designs and providing practical, technically sound fire safety solutions.
    Producing technical reports, fire strategies and supporting documentation.
    Attending project meetings and liaising with clients and key stakeholders.
    Supporting the delivery of projects from initial concept through to completion.
    Keeping up to date with relevant legislation, guidance and industry best practice.

    About You

    We are looking for an experienced Fire Engineer with proven experience within a consultancy or similar technical environment.

    You will ideally have:

    Previous professional experience as a Fire Engineer — essential.
    Experience developing fire strategies for commercial and/or residential buildings.
    Strong knowledge of relevant fire safety legislation, regulations and guidance.
    Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
    The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a wider team.
    A proactive approach and genuine ambition to develop your career.
    Relevant engineering or fire safety qualifications.
    Chartered status or progression towards Chartered Engineer/Chartered Membership would be advantageous, although full support will be provided for the right candidate looking to achieve chartership.
