How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Student Welfare Officer - Secondary School

    Location: Ealing
    Start Date: October 2026 - potentially sooner
    Working Pattern: Full-time, 5 days per week
    Salary: Competitive rate depending on experience

    About the Role

    We are currently recruiting for a Student Welfare Officer to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Ealing. This is a full-time position, working 5 days per week, with a start date in October and the possibility of starting sooner for the right candidate.

    The successful candidate will work solely within the school's medical room, providing day-to-day first aid and welfare support to students. The role will also include some administrative responsibilities, alongside regular interaction with students and school staff.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is caring, organised and confident dealing with young people, while being able to remain calm and professional in a busy school environment.

    About the School

    The school is a well-established secondary school in Ealing with a strong focus on safeguarding, pastoral care and student wellbeing. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring students receive appropriate care and support throughout the school day.

    Key Duties

    Manage the day-to-day running of the medical room.

    Provide first aid and welfare support to students.

    Respond appropriately to students who are unwell or have sustained minor injuries.

    Maintain accurate medical and welfare records.

    Contact parents/carers where required.

    Administer medication in accordance with school policies and procedures.

    Monitor and maintain medical supplies.

    Complete relevant administrative duties and paperwork.

    Communicate effectively with students, staff and parents/carers.

    Maintain confidentiality at all times.

    Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school procedures.

    Provide a calm, reassuring and supportive environment for students.

    Requirements

    A valid First Aid certificate is essential and must be held to be considered for this position.

    Previous experience working within a school, medical, welfare, pastoral or similar environment is desirable.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    A calm, caring and approachable manner.

    Confidence when dealing with students who are unwell, distressed or require first aid.

    Strong organisational and administrative skills.

    Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.

    A strong understanding of safeguarding and student welfare.

    Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
