How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: Roche, Cornwall (PL26)
    Salary: £30,000 per annum
    Hours: 37.5 hours per week
    Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, approximately 10:00am–6:00pm
    Contract: Full-time

    CDS Labour are recruiting an organised and reliable Stock Controller for a well-established seafood processing and distribution business based near Roche, Cornwall.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous stock control, warehouse or inventory experience who enjoys working accurately in a busy environment. You will play an important role in maintaining correct stock levels and ensuring products and materials are available when required.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Monitoring stock levels and ensuring records are accurate

    * Recording all incoming and outgoing stock

    * Carrying out regular stock counts and inventory checks

    * Investigating and resolving stock discrepancies

    * Updating stock management systems and spreadsheets

    * Checking deliveries against purchase orders and delivery paperwork

    * Ensuring products are correctly labelled, stored and rotated

    * Following stock rotation procedures, including FIFO and expiry-date controls

    * Monitoring chilled and frozen stock where required

    * Liaising with warehouse, production, purchasing and dispatch teams

    * Identifying low-stock items and reporting replenishment requirements

    * Preparing regular stock reports for management

    * Maintaining accurate documentation and traceability records

    * Supporting audits and providing relevant stock information

    * Ensuring damaged, missing or incorrectly delivered stock is reported promptly

    * Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, food hygiene and health and safety

    What We’re Looking For

    * Previous stock control or inventory experience is preferred

    * Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numbers

    * Good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel

    * Experience using stock or warehouse management systems would be beneficial

    * Good communication and organisational skills

    * Ability to investigate discrepancies and solve problems

    * Confidence working independently and as part of a team

    * A reliable and responsible approach to work

    * Comfortable working in a busy food-processing environment, which may include chilled areas
