How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    PLC / Controls Engineers – Contract
    Location: UK-wide/London/Home Counties
    Job Type: Contract
    Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience
    Start: Variable
    We are looking for experienced PLC / Controls Engineers to support intralogistics and manufacturing projects across the UK.
    The Role
    * PLC programming, configuration, testing and commissioning of automated material handling and manufacturing systems.
    * Fault finding and diagnostics across PLC, HMI, controls and automation systems.
    * Supporting the commissioning and integration of conveyors, sortation, automated machinery and associated equipment.
    * Working from electrical schematics, control panels and technical documentation.
    * Software modifications, optimisation and system troubleshooting.
    * Supporting site acceptance testing and project handover.
    * Working closely with electrical, mechanical and commissioning teams.
    * Completing technical reports and site documentation.
    * Potential UK-wide travel with occasional overnight stays.
    Requirements
    * Proven experience as a PLC / Controls / Automation Engineer.
    * Experience within intralogistics, automation, manufacturing or industrial environments is ideal.
    * Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
    * Experience with Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley or similar PLC platforms.
    * Good understanding of industrial automation, controls and electrical systems.
    * Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation.
    * Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
    * Full UK driving licence.
    * Flexible to travel and work away when required.
