How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Engineering Geologist (Design) - Manchester

    Engineering Geologist (Design) required for one of the UK's leading specialist engineering geology teams. This Engineering Geologist (Design) role offers genuine hands-on technical work across rock and soil slope stability, blasting design, numerical modelling and remedial engineering, working on some of the most complex and high profile ground engineering projects in the UK and overseas.

    THE ROLE - ENGINEERING GEOLOGIST (DESIGN)

    As Engineering Geologist (Design) you will work across the full project lifecycle, from site characterisation and geohazard assessment through to detailed design and construction support, working closely with the geotechnical design FEM team on numerical modelling for complex schemes. This is not a desk-based feasibility role. You will be involved in:

    Rock and soil slope stability assessment and design of remedial works
    Blasting and excavation design for rock cuttings
    Rock mass classification using RSHI and the NGI Q-system
    Numerical modelling (Plaxis, finite element and limit equilibrium analysis) for slope and foundation design
    Geohazard and landslide risk assessment using LiDAR and satellite terrain data
    Design of remedial measures including rock dowelling, sprayed concrete, soil nailing and netting
    Site supervision and technical direction during constructionRECENT PROJECTS

    Emergency embankment stabilisation for Network Rail following major landslides
    Engineering geological assessment on Ascension Island, covering landslides, rock slopes and tunnels
    Geotechnical design for a hotel development in Saudi Arabia built into a granite rock formationWHAT WE OFFER

    A degree or MSc in Engineering Geology, Geology or a related discipline
    Experience in rock slope design, ground investigation or geotechnical design
