Assistant Accountant

An established organisation is looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join its small and supportive finance team in Headingley. This is a varied role offering exposure to a broad range of accounting activities and would suit an AAT-qualified or part-qualified finance professional looking to develop their experience.

The Role

Supporting the preparation of quarterly and year-end financial accounts and returns.
Preparing trial balances, journals and account reconciliations.
Providing bookkeeping and general finance support across the organisation.
Processing BACS and other payments.
Maintaining financial records and supporting the management of leases and projects.
Assisting with management accounts, forecasting and costing.
Supporting the annual audit process, including reconciliations and working papers.
Processing and reconciling donations and other income.
Providing support to internal stakeholders and responding to finance queries.
Contributing to improvements in finance processes and systems.
The ideal candidate will be;

AAT Level 4 qualified or equivalent; part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA would also be considered.
Good working knowledge of Excel and Word.
Experience using cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
Solid bookkeeping and general accounting knowledge.
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Well organised, able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
A proactive team player with good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
This is a great opportunity for an Assistant Accountant looking for a varied role within a supportive finance team, based in Headingley with 1 day per week working from home.
