How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

Morson Edge is recruiting on behalf of Sir Robert McAlpine for a Receptionist / Administrator to join the M6 DBFO Routine Operations and Maintenance Contract team.

This is primarily an administrative and document control role, with some reception and telephone responsibilities. The successful candidate will provide essential administrative support to the project office, maintaining accurate records, updating spreadsheets and SharePoint, processing documentation and handling inbound calls from a range of internal and external contacts.

As the project operates on a motorway contract, the role will also involve receiving calls relating to incidents and operational matters from organisations such as the Police and National Highways. Therefore, a professional telephone manner, good customer service skills and the ability to remain calm and organised when dealing with enquiries are important.

    Key Responsibilities

    Administration & Office Support

Answer the office telephone and direct calls to the appropriate person.

Answer and manage the emergency telephone.

Receive, process and log incoming and outgoing mail.

Record incoming mail on spreadsheets and upload documentation to SharePoint, allocating appropriate file reference numbers.

Maintain accurate electronic and physical filing systems.

Log and manage archived information and records.

    Maintain the lone worker log.

Operate remote electronic access gates via telephone/intercom systems.

Provide general administrative support to the project team.

Assist with producing documents, updating graphs and maintaining spreadsheets as required.

Provide holiday cover for the Office Manager in relation to wages returns to Head Office.

    Incident & Customer Service Support

Act as Duty Officer for incidents during normal working hours.

Accurately record details of incidents, comments and complaints.

Liaise with the Duty Engineer, Police, National Highways and other external agencies where required.

Respond professionally to inbound calls and ensure information is passed to the appropriate team member.

Take appropriate action in accordance with project procedures.

    Document Control

Distribute documents in accordance with established procedures.

Log method statements and risk assessments onto spreadsheets and update SharePoint.

Upload and maintain documentation within the project Data Room.

Manage and maintain accurate document control records.

Ensure information is recorded accurately and is readily accessible to the relevant project teams.

    Reporting & Data Management

Compile information for monthly reports, including:

    Comments and complaints

    Environmental information, including waste data

Information required by the Environmental Coordinator

    Incident registers

Log abnormal loads onto spreadsheets to support the Technical Assistant.

Maintain and update the salt sample spreadsheet.

Assist the Quantity Surveyor when required.

    General Duties

Provide administrative assistance to project staff and operatives as required.

Prepare documents and update spreadsheets, graphs and other records.

Support colleagues with general office administration.

Undertake any other reasonable duties assigned by the Project Manager.

    About You

We are looking for an organised and reliable administrator who is comfortable working in a busy project environment and dealing with a variety of people over the telephone and in person.

    You will ideally have:

Previous experience in an administration, office support, customer service or reception-based role.

Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.

Confidence working with spreadsheets, databases and electronic filing systems.

Experience using systems such as SharePoint would be advantageous.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

A professional and friendly telephone manner.

Good customer service skills and the ability to deal confidently with external organisations and members of the public.

The ability to accurately transfer information between forms, spreadsheets and electronic systems.

The ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.

A calm and professional approach when handling incident-related calls or enquiries.

A willingness to support colleagues and undertake a varied range of administrative duties.

    Driving Requirement

Due to the remote location of the project office, applicants must be able to drive and have access to their own transport to reliably travel to the site.

    Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Administrator or Customer Service professional to join a major infrastructure project and gain experience within a busy motorway operations and maintenance environment.

If you are organised, confident dealing with people, comfortable working with spreadsheets and documentation, and looking for a role where no two days are quite the same, we would like to hear from you
