How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Contract: Permanent, Full time (37 hours per week)

    Location: Bainbridge (near Leyburn)

We’re looking for a service-focused and technically capable IT Support Officer who enjoys working with people as much as technology. If you’re committed to continuous improvement, high-quality service and being part of a collaborative team, this could be a great opportunity for you.

This is a permanent, full-time role based in our Bainbridge office, with occasional travel across the Park. There is also potential for some home working, depending on business needs.

    About Us

We are the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, an organisation that protects, enhances and promotes the immense beauty, wildlife and character of the Yorkshire Dales. Set against expansive heather moorland tops, each valley has its own distinct charm, from crags and waterfalls to an underground labyrinth of caves.

    The Benefits

    * Generous leave: starting at 26 days plus bank holidays

    * Flexible working: Flexi-time scheme

    * Excellent pension: Local Government Defined Benefit Pension Scheme

    * Wellbeing support: Subsidised healthcare scheme, cycle to work scheme and staff discounts

    * Free parking pass for our car parks

    The Role

You’ll provide first-line technical support to staff, acting as a key point of contact for IT queries. This includes resolving incidents efficiently, maintaining accurate records within the incident management system, and supporting users both remotely and in person.

You’ll help maintain and improve the Authority’s IT environment, including hardware, systems and applications, ensuring they meet professional standards. This includes configuring equipment, supporting software installations and upgrades, maintaining secure and compliant records, and contributing to system improvements, documentation and user guidance. You’ll also support IT projects and promote effective use of technology across the organisation.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Provide first-line IT support to staff

    * Manage and resolve incidents via the IT service system

    * Install, configure and maintain hardware and software

    * Support IT projects and system improvements

    About You

You’ll have a relevant qualification or equivalent experience supporting IT systems in a Microsoft Windows environment, along with strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Experience of Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Windows Server (2019/2022), and technologies such as Veeam, Hyper-V and Teams Phone is desirable.

You’ll also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and accurately. A flexible and positive approach is essential, along with a commitment to teamwork and delivering excellent customer service.

Access to a car or access to a means of mobility support to meet travel demands of the post is essential (if driving must have a current valid driving licence and appropriate business insurance), as you’ll be required to travel within the Park in order to undertake this post.
