How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    PURCHASING MANAGER

    Responsible for managing the Purchasing, Stores and Yard functions within a manufacturing environment, overseeing procurement, supplier performance, stock availability, cost control and team performance. Responsible for ensuring an effective supply chain capable of supporting manufacturing requirements while maintaining strong supplier relationships and commercial performance.

    *

    Lead and manage the Purchasing, Stores and Yard functions, including team performance, resource planning, objectives and KPIs.

    *

    Develop and maintain a robust supplier base, managing relationships across cost, quality, service and delivery.

    *

    Negotiate purchasing prices and commercial terms with suppliers, identifying opportunities for cost savings and improved margins.

    *

    Oversee purchasing activity and ensure materials, specialist products and stock requirements are ordered accurately and within required timescales.

    *

    Monitor supplier performance and proactively resolve issues relating to late deliveries, incorrect goods, stock shortages and pricing discrepancies.

    *

    Manage new supplier and product onboarding, ensuring purchasing systems, product information, pricing and codes remain accurate and up to date.

    *

    Drive continuous improvement across purchasing processes, developing and maintaining SOPs while removing duplication and improving efficiency.

    *

    Work closely with manufacturing, operations and senior management to ensure procurement activity supports production and delivery requirements.

    *

    Lead, coach and develop the purchasing team through regular performance reviews, mentoring, objective setting and identification of training needs.

    *

    Investigate quality and supply issues, implementing corrective and preventative actions to improve supplier and departmental performance.

    *

    Maintain high standards of health and safety, quality and compliance across the department.

    *

    Monitor market and supplier trends, identifying potential risks, opportunities and future purchasing requirements.

    Key Skills & Experience

    Proven Purchasing/Procurement Management experience within a manufacturing or similar environment, with strong commercial and financial acumen. Experienced in supplier negotiation, relationship management, stock management and cost reduction, with a strong track record of improving purchasing processes and operational efficiency.

    Confident people manager with experience in coaching, mentoring, performance management and KPI delivery. Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office and purchasing, ERP and supply-chain systems. Able to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, anticipate future requirements and work effectively with suppliers, operational teams and senior management
