How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    CNC Miller Setter Operator

    Location: Near Slough
    Salary: £17–£19 per hour
    Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
    Shift: Days – flexible start between 7:00am–8:00am and finish between 3:30pm–4:30pm Monday to Thursday | Friday 7:00am–1:00pm or 8:00am–2:00pm
    Job Type: Permanent

    Syntech Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced CNC Miller Setter Operator to join an established precision engineering business near Slough.

    The role will involve setting and operating CNC milling machines, working from engineering drawings to manufacture high-quality precision components.

    CNC Miller Setter Operator Responsibilities

    * Set and operate CNC milling machines.

    * Work from engineering drawings and specifications.

    * Set tooling and cutting parameters.

    * Operate machines using Fanuc controls.

    * Prove programmes for new components.

    * Make minor Fanuc programme edits where required.

    * Load and unload components.

    * Inspect finished components using manual measuring equipment.

    * Carry out tapping, deburring and general finishing where required.

    * Identify opportunities to improve machining processes and cycle times.

    CNC Miller Setter Operator Experience

    * Previous experience as a CNC Miller Setter Operator within a production or precision engineering environment.

    * Ideally 3–5 years' CNC machining experience.

    * Strong CNC milling setting and operating experience.

    * Experience with Fanuc controls.

    * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

    * Confident using manual measuring equipment.

    * CNC tool-setting experience.

    * Ability to make minor programme edits would be advantageous.

    * Experience with Matsuura 3, 4 or 5-axis milling machines would be beneficial
