How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Youth Jobs Guarantee is a mandatory programme for 18-21 year olds who have been on Universal Credit for 18 months or more, providing a fully subsidised six month paid job of up to 25 hours per week at minimum wage.

    What is this role about?

    Youth Jobs Guarantee is a mandatory programme for 18-21 year olds who have been on Universal Credit for 18 months or more, providing a fully subsidised six month paid job of up to 25 hours per week at minimum wage.

    A Careers Coach will use a variety of techniques including effective diagnosis, individual and group coaching, and maximising on any participant funding available to prepare them for employment, and access local education or training opportunities. A Careers Coach is also responsible for conducting outreach in the community, building relationships with referral partners (DWP/JCP), and attending local events (e.g. job fairs) to generate referrals. They will also engage with local employers, training providers, and other key partners to source suitable opportunities that align with the participants’ goals.

    Just some of your day-to-day responsibilities include:

    *

    Identifying each participants skills and strengths, and suitable training, placements and volunteering opportunities.

    *

    Providing support with CV preparation, job-searching, and interview skills.

    *

    Conducting outreach activity such as running events and sessions at community organisations, attending job fair events and other promotional activity.

    *

    Facilitating group training courses and workshops according to their needs.

    *

    Employer engagement and stakeholder management with the JCP.

    To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with:

    Essential Attainments

    *

    Experience of working in a customer facing environment (i.e. Customer Services, Hospitality, Social Care, Customer Services, Sales)

    *

    Experience of working in a performance target driven environment

    *

    Willingness to travel locally, and access to own vehicle (e.g. to meet customers/employers).

    *

    A minimum of 2 A-Levels or an equivalent Level 3 Diploma.

    *

    GCSE English Language at a minimum of a Grade B (or equivalent Level 2 qualification).

    Desirable Attainments:

    Experience of working in a fast-paced environment. Examples of such experience may include working as a Holiday Representative or Recruitment Consultant, etc.

    Experience of and exposure to client groups. These client groups may include incapacity benefit claimants, single parents, those with criminal records, mental health groups, ex-services, specific ethnic minority or faith groups and those with specific disabilities.

    Direct previous experience of a similar role. Roles considered to be similar include the role of Employment Adviser on a welfare to work contract or a publicly funded service.

    Degree or relevant qualification. Degree topics may include psychology, sociology, and social care/science. Relevant qualifications would include Information Advice and Guidance NVQs, Brokerage Standard, Social Work qualifications or qualifications relating to work with the specific client groups this role will involve

    Level 3 or 4 NVQ in Advice & Guidance or Education & Training

    Fluency in community languages. Community languages may include Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Somali, Vietnamese, Dari, Yoruba, Turkish, French, Spanish, Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Farsi, Guajarati, Polish, Serbian and Greek (Dependent on programme).

    Technical skills include the ability to use technology to deliver results and knowledge of welfare/benefits system

    Personal interests include interest in career and self-development.
