How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist SEN School

    Location: Barnet, North London
    Pay: £108.68 - £115 per day
    Contract Type: Full-time | Temporary to Permanent
    Start Date: ASAP
    Commutable from: Enfield, Harrow, Brent, Camden, Haringey, Finchley, and Central London.

    Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded specialist SEN school in Barnet. This is an excellent opportunity to support children and young people with a range of complex additional needs in a nurturing, well-resourced environment where every student is encouraged to achieve their full potential.

    The school caters for pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), Complex Needs, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Working alongside experienced teachers, therapists, and support staff, you will provide tailored support that promotes both academic progress and personal development.

    Responsibilities

    Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of additional needs.
    Support students to access personalised learning activities both inside and outside the classroom.
    Assist with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning strategies.
    Promote communication, independence, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
    Work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
    Adapt resources and learning approaches to meet individual student needs.
    Support pupils with sensory regulation, emotional wellbeing, and behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
    Encourage students to develop confidence, resilience, and life skills.
    Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff.
    Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive.

    Essential Candidate Requirements

    Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Care Worker, Support Worker, or in a similar role.
    Experience supporting children or young people with Autism, complex learning needs, SEMH, or communication difficulties is highly desirable.
    A calm, patient, and nurturing approach with the ability to build positive relationships.
    Strong communication and teamwork skills.
    A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve their individual goals.
    Confidence working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    Must hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
