How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Interim Curriculum Manager will provide leadership and operational management of English and Maths provision across both 16-18 study programmes and adult learning programmes. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications, whilst maintaining compliance with funding regulations and condition of funding requirements.

    The role will involve curriculum planning, staff management, performance monitoring, timetabling and driving continuous improvement to maximise learner outcomes, attendance and achievement.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead and manage English and Maths curriculum provision across GCSE and Functional Skills programmes.

    Develop, implement and monitor curriculum plans that meet learner, employer and organisational requirements.

    Ensure curriculum delivery is planned efficiently and effectively to maximise learner success.

    Monitor and analyse performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate interventions.

    Drive improvements in learner retention, attendance, achievement and progression.

    Maintain high standards of teaching, learning and assessment across all English and Maths provision.

    Conduct lesson observations, learning walks and performance reviews where required.

    Support and develop teaching staff through coaching, mentoring and performance management.

    Monitor learner achievement and implement strategies to improve outcomes.

    Contribute to self-assessment, quality improvement planning and inspection readiness activities.

    Lead, motivate and manage curriculum teams, including lecturers, tutors and support staff.

    Conduct performance reviews and support staff development.

    Manage staffing resources effectively to ensure appropriate curriculum delivery.

    Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.

    Lead curriculum planning, scheduling and timetabling activities.

    Ensure staffing and resource allocation supports efficient programme delivery.

    Work collaboratively with wider curriculum and support teams to optimise learner experience.

    Maintain accurate curriculum records and reporting mechanisms.

    Ensure compliance with ESFA funding regulations, audit requirements and organisational policies.

    Monitor and address issues relating to funding compliance and learner eligibility.

    Lead on the implementation and monitoring of English and Maths condition of funding requirements.

    Work closely with MIS, Quality and Funding teams to identify and resolve compliance risks.

    Ensure accurate learner data, registers and tracking information are maintained.

    Person Specification:

    Degree-level qualification or equivalent.

    Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent).

    English and/or Maths qualification at Level 2 or above.

    Significant experience of leading English and Maths provision within Further Education or Adult Learning.

    Experience managing both GCSE and Functional Skills delivery.

    Proven experience of curriculum planning and timetabling.

    Experience of leading, managing and developing teaching staff.

    Demonstrable experience of improving learner outcomes and quality standards.

    Experience of working with 16-18 learners and adult learners.

    Strong understanding of funding compliance requirements and ESFA funding rules.

    Experience of managing condition of funding requirements for English and Maths.

    Current knowledge of GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications.

    Understanding of Ofsted requirements and quality assurance processes.

    Knowledge of performance management and quality improvement methodologies.

    Understanding of FE funding and compliance frameworks.

    Skills & Competencies:

    Excellent organisational and planning abilities.

    Ability to analyse data and identify improvement actions.

    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

    Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.

    Desirable Criteria:

    Management qualification (ILM, CMI or equivalent).

    Experience of leading curriculum areas through Ofsted inspection.

    Experience using FE management information systems and reporting tools.

    Knowledge of apprenticeship English and Maths requirements.
